The writing here is by Dr. Borhanuddin Khan Jahangir, former Professor of Political Science, DU. He is more known for his role as an important member of our intelligencia, a very important Art Critic and a social thinker. We knew him through his inimitable (not imitable) speaking style and his erudition (pedantry) in Oriental and Western art.

This book is written follwoing the method developed by the French Annales School of Historians, a historiographic school that was very influential in the early 20th C. Two of its greatest practioners are great historian/philosopher Lucien Febvre and Marc Bloch.
